DIZENGOFF 288

About the Project

In 2017, the construction of a building at 288 Dizengoff Street (Tel Aviv, Israel) was completed, with the planning and management of my parents. Throughout the construction process I visited the site, photographed spaces in it and took materials from it that intrigued me. Combining my findings on the site with the photos I took, the Dizengoff 288 exhibition was born, and was displayed in the gallery on the ground floor of the building, upon completion. The exhibition presents paintings based on the photos I took inside the building, on materials I took from the construction site - tin plates, paint lids, gypsum boards and tiles. To the same series of paintings and drawings I also added ready-made works, in which I used the objects I found in the building. Among those works is Construction Worker - a plastic chair stained with concrete that I framed with leftovers of brass panels, which were used in the decoration of the building itself. This exhibition praises construction. It praises construction workers, architects, designers, tenants, and buildings, which can be seen as monumental sculptures in the public space.
