FEET

About the Project

In 2018, on a trip to Paris, I visited the Louvre Museum. While wandering around its galleries, I realized that the paintings and sculptures displayed in it contain a body part that receives relatively little attention on a daily basis - feet. Out of admiration for the impressive technique of depicting that body part, and out of the humorous thought of feet as a fetish, I began to photograph feet in works of art, in every museum I visited. For me, these close-up photographs produce two things: a visual expression of a momentary and amusing thought, and a broad and anonymous, albeit slightly fetishistic, sample of a body part that tends to be ignored - perhaps because of its smell.
